Teachers in Rome

Arts teachers Joanna Estrada (Hedenkamp Elementary) and Stacy Clemetson (Finney Elementary) are representing their respective schools in Rome for an exhibit of CVESD student artwork. The teachers volunteered to help support the display of student work as part of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace on Saturday, September 21. Approximately 150 pieces of student artwork will be displayed for two weeks around the Colosseum and were created for last year’s Peace Run. Last March, a team of runners from the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home “Peace Run” spread its message of goodwill, harmony and friendship to Finney, Montgomery, and Camarena schools as part of multi-faceted presentations about peace, including the student art.

Among the activities Ms. Estrada and Ms. Clemetson will be a part of:

  • The opening institutional ceremony inside the Colosseum on Friday, Sept. 20.
  • Flash mob at the Colosseum with a Peace Silent Meditation sitting on the Peace Carpet made by women from around the world on September 21.
  • The Peace Run to the Vatican, Peace Run Half Marathon, and Fun Run that ends in Napoli to have dinner with monks.
