The Chula Vista Elementary School District participates in the School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs. Breakfast and lunch are served every day at each of the 46 elementary school sites including 16 preschool programs. Many schools throughout the district offers a second chance breakfast for those students who did not get a breakfast prior to school starting. Please click on the school list link to contact your specific school for more information.

Eligible students may receive free or reduced meals at no cost for lunch and free or reduced meals at no cost for breakfast based on income and household size. To decrease the economic burden of those families that qualify for the reduced price meals, our District is choosing to pick up the cost of all meals. If you think you may qualify, please see the CNS Quick Links titled, "Meal Application"

Child Nutrition Services follows the "Offer vs. Serve" program as stipulated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Each site allows the student to choose 1 of 3 entrees for lunch, an option of either 1% white milk or non-fat unflavored or flavored milk, and as many fresh fruits and vegetables as they want. For breakfast, a student may choose from 1 of 4 entrees, fruit, and 1% and nonfat unflavored milk.

Nutrition Information

We strive to offer the best quality products in our cafeterias and are continually looking for new ways to bring in more appealing and nutritious foods. We are highly regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in that we are not able to serve just anything in our schools. We are required to serve a wide variety of fruits and vegetables as well as whole grain products that are lower in sodium and saturated fat. Everything we serve is a healthy counterpart to what may look like a "fast food" menu.
