CVESD’s new Website and Communications Specialist, LaTanya Powers, symbolizes the belief that talent, hard work, and a resilient spirit can propel you to great accomplishments. LaTanya joined the District’s Information Technology Team last Fall and has quickly proven herself to be a valuable addition. She handles much of our social media postings and website updates with the skill of a seasoned professional.
LaTanya’s success story and arrival at CVESD was featured in the Fall 2021 edition of Highlights, an online publication produced by Goodwill Industries of Southern California. The story spotlights LaTanya as part of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community alongside her extensive educational background and knowledge that have enabled her to enjoy success in her new professional role.
The mother of two possesses a Master’s degree in Information Technology with an emphasis in website design, and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. She is also fluent in American Sign Language. LaTanya, who has a soft spot for tasty Girl Scout cookies, has already put her wealth of education and experience to good work with CVESD.
“Having LaTanya on our team makes a huge and tremendous difference,” said her supervisor, Danny Pasawongse, Senior Director of Information Technology. “She is a game changer and so refreshing to work with; she handles all matters, whatever size they may be, with a smile and poise, a calm demeanor, impeccable work ethic, and utmost care. Her enthusiasm for her work, especially her passion and purpose to serve the students, families and staff of CVESD, contagiously inspires those around her.”
With LaTanya at the controls, the District’s digital presence is in very good and capable hands.
