The Chula Vista Elementary School District's (CVESD) community schools movement continues to grow. For the 2024-25 school year, three additional schools will join the Community School Program, bringing the total to five.
For the second cohort, Loma Verde, Lilian J. Rice, and Los Altos Elementary have been selected as the next Community School Program schools. These schools will receive over four million dollars in CCSPP Grant Awards to support the program's implementation and growth over the next five years.
Since the inception of the Community Schools Program at CVESD, the district’s steering committee has created a comprehensive handbook and bylaws and enhanced programming at the inaugural two sites, Harborside and Palomar, with family nights, intensive tutoring, and additional services.
The Community Schools Program is a testament to the district’s commitment to addressing students' unique needs and fostering a sense of community. The support and services offered are tailored to each school's specific needs, as determined through surveys conducted with our students, families, and the local community.
The district is committed to enhancing and expanding the Community Schools Program through a shared decision-making model. To learn more about the Community Schools Program, click here.
