About Us
The creation of the Chula Vista Community Collaborative started when the South Bay Human Services Council, a coalition of human service agencies and Vista Square Elementary staff, determined that there were community needs that could not be adequately addressed with the help of traditional school staff alone. As a result, the South Bay Human Services Council applied for a Healthy Start Planning Grant in January 1993 and was awarded the grant in May 1993. The collaborative was eventually integrated into the Chula Vista Elementary School District, and along with the Healthy Start Planning Grant with the support of the Social Security Administration, the City of Chula Vista, South Bay Family YMCA, Episcopal Community Services, Head Start, Vista Hill, and Human Services Council, the organizations worked together to form a collective that could provide streamlined support to families in need. This collaborative effort was eventually renamed the Chula Vista Community Collaborative in commemoration of its 10-year anniversary. For over 30 years CVCC has continued to connect families with much needed resources, including family support and advocacy, parenting resources, health insurance enrollment, food assistance, and more. At CVCC, we want to give all students the equal opportunity to be successful and we understand that it all starts with happy and healthy families, and sustainable communities.
