The Chula Vista Elementary School District’s (CVESD) Transportation Department serves more than 1,600 students each day, covering over 700,000 miles annually across our community.

Behind the wheel of every school bus is a dedicated driver who is committed to ensuring every child gets to school and back home, safely. In recognition of their invaluable contributions, the CVESD Board of Education officially designated April 22, 2025, School Bus Drivers Appreciation Day.

To mark the occasion, CVESD hosted a special appreciation breakfast honoring our many bus drivers. Those being celebrated were joined by district staff and leadership who were eager to recognize those who undertake this essential role. While enjoying pancakes and eggs, drivers received individual awards for safety and reliability.

As the district celebrates bus drivers today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to recognize and thank bus drivers for all they do, year-round. Whether it’s a wave, kind word, or thank you, your appreciation goes a long way. Thank you to all CVESD bus drivers!
