The Chula Vista Elementary School District’s (CVESD) Board of Education passed a resolution observing September 2023 as National Suicide Prevention Month. Suicide is a serious public health problem, and CVESD is encouraging our community to help amplify the message that suicide can be prevented and learn how everyone can play a vital role in their community to help save lives and emphasize the focus on cultivating and maintaining well-being.
At CVESD, our student's social and emotional well-being is a top priority, and we are dedicated to ensuring that all students thrive in a supportive environment. CVESD provides our students a holistic and supportive educational experience through a multi-tiered support system.
Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports framework establishes clear and consistent standards for positive behavior across all our schools. Through observation of trends in student behavior, we make timely and effective interventions that ensure every student gets the support they need when needed.
Social-Emotional Learning at CVESD also offers students techniques to manage their emotions, cultivate empathy by understanding others' perspectives, build strong and positive relationships through effective communication, and act ethically and responsibly by evaluating the consequences of their actions.
