Board of Education unanimously approved the name of our newest elementary school
The Chula Vista Elementary School District’s (CVESD) Board of Education unanimously approved the name of our newest elementary school located at 1789 Santa Carolina Avenue in Chula Vista.
After a call for names and over 100 submissions by community members, the Board of Education selected Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School. The name honors Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic woman to serve on the Supreme Court. Her life journey is a testament to resilience, intellect, and unwavering dedication to her community. The new elementary school will be opened in the 2024-25 school year.
CVESD is committed to expanding our school sites throughout the district to serve all the students and families within the Chula Vista Elementary School District boundaries. We look forward to welcoming our first class of students and staff members at our newest school site.
