Lucy Ugarte was elected to the Board of Education in November 2020. She has been a resident of Chula Vista for over 25 years. She is the parent of four children, all attending district schools. Ms. Ugarte earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and Health Sciences from San Diego State University. She also earned a Master's Degree in the Teaching Specialization of Best Practices from National University. Ms. Ugarte has been a teacher in the Sweetwater Union High School District for over 25 years, during which she has been an advocate for students, parents, and the community. Ms. Ugarte believes each student deserves a quality and equitable education.
