Belief Statement about Multilingual English Learners:

We believe that ALL Multilingual English Learners can acquire English, achieve high academic success and be college and career ready.  This is a shared responsibility of all educators.  All levels of the schooling system have a role to play in ensuring the access and achievement of our Multilingual English Learners.  To carry out this mission, the Chula Vista Elementary School District emphasizes the following principles:

Multilingual English Learner Master Plan:

CVESD's Multilingual English Learner Master Plan is aligned to the California English Learner Roadmap and was developed in collaboration with teachers, administrators, staff and parents.  The Master Plan is a framework and guide for implementation of services and support for our Multilingual English Learners.  To view a copy of the plan, please download the MEL Master Plan located in the document container at the bottom of this page.

The English Language Development (ELD) Standards were adopted on November 7, 2012, by the State Board of Education.

The ELD Standards help guide curriculum, instruction, and assessment for English Learners who are developing the English language skills needed to engage successfully with state subject matter standards for college and career readiness.
