The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) is thrilled to announce that our Coastal Education Program has been selected as the recipient of the Inspire Award by the Classroom of the Future Foundation (CFF).
The Inspire Award recognizes programs that go above and beyond in sparking enthusiasm for learning and leveraging innovative approaches to education. CVESD's Coastal Education Program was selected for its unparalleled ability to inspire both educators and students alike, motivating them to engage with science in meaningful and impactful ways.
In collaboration with the Living Coast Discovery Center, the Coastal Education Program is one of CVESD's Station Experiences. Students from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade participate in immersive experiences that cultivate their curiosity and passion for science. The program offers 24 standards-based activities designed to deepen students' understanding of earth science, life science, physical science, and social studies while instilling a sense of responsibility as stewards of the environment.
As recipients of the Inspire Award, the Coastal Education Program is receiving a $5,000 grant to further enrich their efforts in environmental education. Additionally, they will be honored during the 21st Annual Innovation in Education Awards ceremony at SeaWorld San Diego on May 16.
Through initiatives such as the Coastal Education Program, CVESD continues to promote innovative education practices that inspire lifelong learning and environmental stewardship.
